AgReliant Genetics Establishes $1 Million Endowment with Purdue College of Agriculture

WESTFIELD, Ind., – August 20, 2013

AgReliant Genetics is pleased to announce the establishment of the $1 million AgReliant Genetics Endowment for Purdue University’s College of Agriculture in the Department of Agronomy. This endowment will provide funding to graduate students conducting research in areas such as plant science, plant breeding and genetics or soil sciences.

Craig Newman, President & CEO of AgReliant Genetics and Purdue University alumnus, feels the contribution signifies the importance of research and education in a vital and complex industry.

“With the ever-increasing population, it’s critical that today’s agricultural industry invests in the research being conducted by tomorrow’s agricultural leaders,” Newman stated. “Purdue’s College of Agriculture is world-renowned and we are honored to work with such a reputable institution to further the research and development of new innovations.”

Along with Newman, Tom Koch, AgReliant Genetics Vice President of Research, is also confident that the investment will be a meaningful contribution to current and future agriculturalists.

“AgReliant Genetics truly values the real-world experience exhibited by Purdue alumni upon graduation and the immediate impact they have on the industry,” said Koch. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to fund some of the outstanding research that will continue to benefit the future of agriculture.”

The funding was made possible in conjunction with Purdue’s College of Agriculture. Jay Akridge, Glenn W. Sample Dean of the College of Agriculture, said the endowment reflects the commitment of AgReliant Genetics and Purdue Agriculture to enhancing graduate education and research in the plant and soil sciences.

“This investment will help ensure that we continue to produce the human talent that industry needs,” he said.
